Day 7 - Jan 13
The best golf of the trip. Durban Golf Club where the South African Open was just played on Feb. 5/8 won by Ernie Els. Watched it on the Golf Channel. It was especially fun to remember some of the holes and shots they faced. A very good caddie, Harold who was barefoot. This is a very old course and while narrow presented very interesting holes and vistas. Played well helped by the fact that I was first out in a twosome so we moved along unhampered . It's easier to keep some rhythm going that way. It was very hot and humid that day, 100+ so the shower in a very plush locker room was a welcome 19th hole. Lunch and back to Shortens. A restful afternoon reading and napping. Dinner was a seafood place in the nearby town. It was hot and crowded and I cannot remember what I ordered. Kind of sums up that experience .
