Day 13- Jan19
Up at 5:30. Coffee, juice and a bun and into the Land Rover. Out until 9:am and then real breakfast - all the trimmings. The middle of the day is too hot for man or beast so everyone siestas, swims, lunches, naps, veg out. Out again a 4 PM. Same routine as yesterday with cocktails at 6:30. This time thunder was rumbling and sure enough the sky opened. The vehicles do carry rain gear for all but it was useless in the downpour that ensued. So instead of a night watch we scooted for camp - that is until we encountered a monster elephant having his supper while standing the road. No way around him so we sat and soaked for about 10 minutes while he finished off a tree. Dinner inside tonight. During this day we saw more lions, monkeys, leopards, hyaenas, elephants, white rhinos, and giraffes plus many birds.
